Yummy bananas!


People often worry that bananas are too high in sugar. This at least partially has to do with the glycemic index (which isn’t as important as the glycemic load… which I explained here).

What most people don’t realize is that bananas have at least a small amount of almost every vitamin and mineral! Not to mention a healthy dose of some nutrients… A small banana (~6″ long) has 11% of your daily fiber needs, 15% of vitamin C, 19% of vitamin B6, 10% of potassium, and 14% of manganese. That sounds like a pretty healthy snack or meal component to me!
