Defining and implementing your personalized food chain is a team effort in which both of us bring our A-game.  Sometimes the next steps will be my responsibility and sometimes they will be yours.  But ultimately, we both work towards the same goal: using the power of food so you can feel your best, look amazing and enjoy life at the same.

What you can expect

From the beginning, you will be in the driver’s seat.  You will tell me what your goals are for your health.  You tell me what hasn’t worked in the past and why you think it didn’t work.  You will prioritize the outcomes, presuming that you have more than one in mind.  You will provide feedback on my recommendations (ex: is it something you are willing to do?) and on the results any changes bring (ex: did you feel different after the change was made?).  Ultimately, you will decide what works for you and what doesn’t and you will identify when your goals have been achieved.

My job is to be your guide, provide expertise, and help you in any other way I can (Accountability, anyone?).  As I get to know you and your situation, I will help you establish achievable goals and perhaps identify additional goals that you may not realize are possibilities.  I will help you understand why past attempts to solve the problem haven’t worked and help you overcome any obstacles that are in your path to success.  I will make specific recommendations based on all the factors involved and adjust those recommendations as we learn more about your the links in your food chain.

As partners in your journey, we work together towards a final solution that meets your needs and wants.

How it works

Once we’ve agreed that we make the perfect team to achieve your goals, the program will work something like this:

  • You complete the client intake questionnaire with as much information as you are comfortable giving.  It is a somewhat lengthy document, which can be a bit daunting and may leave you wondering whether or not all of the information matters.  I assure you that it does!  The more I know about you, the more I am able to help.  And you have my word that I will never waste your time with busy work or pointless activities.
  • Prior to our first meeting, I thoroughly review your intake questionnaire and prepare to make our first meeting a productive one.
  • During our first meeting, we work together to complete an initial assessment of the four links of the food chain — your physiology, environment, lifestyle and preferences.  This is like detective work where we get all of the clues on paper, compare notes, and make sure we are both starting from the same place.  The initial meeting usually takes between 1 and 1.5 hours because I want to be sure we discuss everything applicable to your health.  Again, the more I know about you, the more I am able to help.  As well, you will leave the meeting with at least a few actions you can start implementing that very day.
  • In regularly scheduled follow-ups (often scheduled weekly at the beginning and then moving to once every 2 or 3 weeks), we will
    • Review your progress using the recommended actions,
    • Make adjustments to the action plan as necessary and appropriate, and
    • Discuss any new questions or concerns that have come up since we last spoke.

How Long does Success Take?

I know you are anxious to feel and look better.  You’re ready to lose the weight, sleep better, think clearly, and have more energy.  And you want it to happen as quickly as possible.  The good news is that I want that for you too, and there are likely changes we can make that will allow you to start feeling better within just a couple of weeks.

That being said, I don’t want to give you false hope about a quick fix.  I don’t offer magic pills or secret solutions or promise overnight success.  It can often take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months to see real, lasting changes.  Remember you didn’t get into your current state in one day and you won’t get out of it in one day.  The amount of time depends on how many factors including:

  • The number of things that need adjusting, rebalancing and repairing;
  • How quickly you want to work through the options available; and
  • If and how much interaction is needed with other healthcare practitioners (such as blood tests from your doctor).

My commitment to you is that I will do everything I can to help you safely and effectively reach your health goals as quickly as possible.  I have no need or intention of having you as a client forever.  I simply want you to feel and look like the very best version of yourself and I am willing to work with you to reach that goal for as long as you as you are interested in working with me.
